Military Times, a news source for veterans and their families, has named Withum on their annual Best for Vets: Employers list for the first time.
“I am thrilled to see Withum rank amongst so many other organizations committed to connecting former service members to the civilian workforce,” said Bill Bradshaw, Director of Inclusion and Diversity. This recognition aligns with Withum’s intentional efforts to become an Employer of Choice for active and former service members. Withum’s Veteran’s TMRG (Team Member Resource Group) spearheaded several firm initiatives to support vets both in our communities and as members of our team.
“Our mission is to give our team members resources they need to be successful in their professional and personal lives,” said Ray Bastin, Partner and Leader of the Veteran’s TMRG. “Connecting with the wider community is another part of this mission. We take pride in working with organizations that support vets and their families, promoting a greater understanding of their sacrifices and contributions.”
Over the past two years, Withum has engaged with several nonprofit organizations that support vets, like Fisher House, a charity that builds comfort homes near VA hospitals for patients’ families. Withum team members donated unused PTO days for a dollar amount toward the charity, cumulating in over $3,500. Additionally, Withum sponsored golf outings for Folds of Honor, East Chapter, which provides scholarships for fallen or disabled military and first responder spouses and descendants. This December, Withum looks forward to contributing wreaths for the third consecutive year with Wreaths Across America (WAA). WAA’s mission is to remember fallen veterans, honor those who serve and teach the next generation the value of freedom by performing wreath-laying ceremonies at military cemeteries across the country. Last year, the Firm sponsored over 2,000 wreaths across 22 sites.
Adrienne Smith, a Senior Project Manager and Assistant Virtual Chief Information Officer on Withum’s Cyber and Information Security Team, is a former US Army Senior Communications subject matter expert. She was recently recognized by Profiles in Diversity Journal with a Black Leadership Award, celebrating her professional accomplishments and activities with Withum’s Black, Latino, African-American, African and Caribbean (BLAAC) and Veterans TMRGs.
“It was my honor to serve the citizens of the United States of America as a Soldier in the Army for 22 years,” said Adrienne. “At Withum, not only do we give back to our community through various company initiatives, but we also provide support to all branches of the armed forces. I feel fortunate to be in an organization that fulfills me personally and professionally, post-military.”
Military Times works with Fors Marsh Group to conduct the annual survey and highlight company efforts to support current and former service members. They collect data on recruitment, retention and employment practices, inclusive policies, supplier diversity and more. Military Times praised Withum for its outstanding recruitment efforts, relationships with professional military associations and inclusive hiring and employment benefits.
