Forvis Mazars, LLP, one of the largest public accounting and consulting firms in the United States, is bolstering the services it offers clients in the construction industry through the launch of its Construction Technology Services consulting practice.

The practice is designed to help construction companies move forward with digital-first strategies to streamline financial reporting and project operations, enhance communication and collaboration, and more easily access real-time data to make informed decisions faster. The new offering builds on Forvis Mazars’ 100-year legacy of serving clients in the industry.

Managing directors Steve Maddox and Jim Wagner are among the leaders of the new consulting practice. The pair were founders of ConTech360, a Charlotte, North Carolina-based construction technology firm that joined Forvis Mazars effective Sept. 1 following a previously announced acquisition of assets. They join a team that serves thousands of clients across the country and consistently ranks among the top accounting firms serving the industry.

The new practice is also augmented through the firm’s recently announced status as a Trimble Authorized Business Development Partner.

“Digital transformation is having a major impact on our industry and is a huge focus area for many of the clients we serve,” said Jason Myers, national industry leader for construction and real estate at Forvis Mazars. “We have a deep understanding of both the challenges and opportunities of technology adoption and implementation. Forvis Mazars is investing in our capabilities and our team—including the addition of experienced leaders such as Jim and Steve—so we can help our clients unlock their full potential as they invest in themselves at this critical time.”

A tailored approach to helping clients define a vision for how and why they use technology is a key aspect of the practice. This may include thorough evaluations of current processes and tech stacks, identifying future-state requirements that consider growth and scalability, and a systematic review of potential software solutions.

Additional aspects include:

  • Robotic process automation (RPA) to streamline manual processes, reduce operational costs, and empower value-added work.
  • Business Intelligence (BI) and advanced reporting tools to spotlight actionable insights and measure the health of the business.
  • Selection and implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, including Trimble’s Viewpoint Spectrum and Vista.
  • Combined with the firm’s accounting and assurance best practices, adoption of these tools can further streamline efficiencies and produce a more agile company culture.

“The demand for technology solutions in our industry is at an all-time high as legacy systems are being replaced with cutting-edge tools that are helping drive business decisions,” said Mike Trammell, construction and real estate consulting leader for Forvis Mazars. “Companies that are proactive and forward-thinking about technology will be better positioned to compete by attracting and retaining talent, providing greater value to their clients, and growing their business.”
